The short answer
Usually yes, but not as a refund. All three LA dinner hosts we checked say tickets are non-refundable (at Jikoni, inside 72 hours), and all three let someone else take your seat. The menu is bought and prepped per guest, so an empty chair costs the host food, while a different name at the table costs them nothing.
Read who you're allowed to give it to
The wording differs. Jikoni says you may “gift or sell” your ticket to a friend, and Sorry Not Sorry allows a transfer “to another guest” with advance notice. Sweet Antelope says “friends and family,” so ask the host before handing a seat to someone you don't know. At Jikoni, if you're more than 72 hours out, a refund minus $15 or a free reschedule may beat finding a replacement.
How to hand off the seat
Email the host from the address you booked with. Give the event name and date, your ticket or order reference, and the new guest's name and any dietary needs (Jikoni asks for all three; Sorry Not Sorry wants dietary notes 48 hours ahead). Jikoni notes the original purchaser stays responsible for the booking. Ask the person taking your seat to pay you back once the host has confirmed the new name, not before.
Listing a dinner ticket on Unrefundable
A single seat is usually easiest to pass to a friend. For a pair of tickets, a pricey tasting dinner or a private table, you can list it free under events & parties: we check your booking and the host's transfer terms, introduce someone who wants it, and charge 8% of what you recover only after the host confirms the new guest.
