The short answer
Often yes. One-off workshops are the friendliest category for transfers: many LA studios won't refund you but will happily put a different name on the ticket, because a full seat costs them nothing. Multi-week series are more often excluded, and some studios need notice (a day or two) before the class.
How to do it properly
Email the studio from the address you booked with. Give the workshop name and date and the new person's full name and email, and ask for confirmation. Don't just forward your ticket: studios use the name list for check-in, waivers and materials.
Getting paid back
The person taking your spot pays you, ideally after the studio confirms the name change. For a single ticket, a direct handoff to a friend is simplest. For pricier series or intensives, a listing can help you reach someone who wants exactly that class.
Listing a workshop seat on Unrefundable
Workshops and classes are a listing category. Upload your confirmation, we check the studio's transfer terms, and you pay 8% of what you recover only after the studio confirms the new attendee.
